Zanzibar is a coral island located in the Indian Ocean approximately 25 miles from the Tanzanian Coast. Zanzibar island (known locally as Unguja) is 60 miles long and 20 miles wide. It is characterised by it's beautiful sandy beaches with fringing coral reefs and the historical capital Stone Town that is said to be the only functioning ancient town in East Africa.
Zanzibar's weather is shaped by the monsoons, which bring heavy rains to the East African coast during the rainy seasons. The rains typically arrive at the end of March and continue through to May. June brings the start of the long dry season, with hot days and pleasant nights cooled by a tropical sea breeze. The ideal time to visit Zanzibar would be February, March and October as this is when the temperature is the most pleasant and there are fewer tourists on the island. Please note that Zanzibar is only and small island, therefore bookings for Christmas and New Year should be made between April and September in order to avoid disappointment and to secure your accommodation.
We have a very experienced ground team in Zanzibar, and through them we will be able to organise all your airport transfers prior to your arrival on the island. This is a much safer option than using the local taxi's. We will also be able to organise any other transfers required around the island as well as any tours and excursions you choose to do.
